Growing Our Movement

It’s been 20 years since the Ontario Liberal Party last went from the opposition benches to the cabinet table. In that time, we’ve failed to invite new people in order to grow our movement.

The party that was the first to ever earn more than two million votes on Election Day is now the party that has fallen short of reaching double digits in the Legislature two elections in a row.

We need to get back to basics and use all 1,461 days between elections to lay the groundwork for victory.

Today I want to share some ideas for how we can grow our team of voters, volunteers, and donors into a winning coalition by the time polls close in 2026. Click the links below to learn more.

  • Deep Canvassing Days of Action: Working with PLAs to rebuild our voter outreach efforts across the province and renew our understanding of local voters by introducing year-round ‘deep canvassing’ Days of Action.
  • Flexible Volunteer Training Program: Creating a home within our party for a new generation of volunteers by offering flexible, user-focused training options online, in-person, in hybrid-settings, and on-demand.
  • Sustainable Monthly Fundraising Plans: Building up election-ready bank accounts in all 124 ridings by creating sustainable monthly fundraising plans and offering dedicated staff support to help make them a reality.

These ideas are effective but they aren’t new. They are a modern update for this decade on the proven tactics that helped propel us from protest to power two decades ago.

Together, by leveraging these ideas and others, we can spark a fundamental reset in our party’s culture that will build a movement with something to offer every Ontarian.

Let me know what you think about these ideas. Reach out on social media or send me an email at [email protected] to share your thoughts and other ideas you have about how we can grow our movement throughout Ontario.
